Restructuring Boundaries

The celebration was held back in 2015, in Singapore.

Reminiscing the 50th Singapore independence, the celebration was everywhere: Land, air, and even Singapore’s water. But, behind the celebration, there is something that Singaporeans and Malaysians must know. Singapore was part of Malaysia, previously. But, due to conflict between the leaders, ethnic confrontation, etc.. There were among the reasons why Singapore separated from Malaysia back on 9th August 1965. Also, restructuring the boundaries happened.

Restructuring the boundaries was not limited to land, even airspace and waters are included in determining the boundaries between countries as well. Even upon achieving independence, both countries still struggling to map the boundaries. For example, The Spratly Islands become pieces of ‘hot pizza’ among Asia countries. Not only between Malaysia and Singapore. In fact, the Philippines, Indonesia, and China are interested in the Spratly Islands.

The latest restructuring boundaries are related to the boundaries among ports belonging to Malaysia and Singapore. You may read full details related to this issue as stated in the link below.

In conclusion, restructuring the boundaries are not only ended upon achieving independence. It will be a prolonged journey and maybe not be ended as long as there are developments exist in that country.
